Welcome!
On this website, you will be able to find information about the Prosperando study tour and its organizing committee.
Some new confirmations!
Our second excursion for the 30th of July: Centro Nacional de Pesquisa em Energia e Materiais or CNPEM for short.
CNPEM is responsible for managing four national research laboratories, concerning research on advanced materials and their production. They also have the oonly particle accelerator in Latin America, a synchrotron.
The following day, we will have a break from all the multi-terrabit/s communication and smashing particles together and we will visit a coffee farm near campinas before continuing to a little city called Holambra. This city is named after HOlland, AMerika and BRAzil and is influenced by our own culture, they even have s genuine dutch windmill.

So what about the tour?
As more and more companies are agreeing to let us take a peek in their research centers and production facilities, it's high time for some updates concerning the actual program of the tour.
On the 24th of July we will be visiting the Itaipu dam where we will be given an educational tour through the facility. The Itaipu dam is the largest hydroelectric power plant currently in operation and it is able to generate power at both 50 Hz (for Paraguay) and 60 Hz (for Brazil).
On the 30th of July, CPqD will be giving us a tour through their facilities in Campinas. They are considered to be the largest research center in Latin America and are among the most acknowledged technology centers in the world of information and communications technology.
Nearing our departure from Brazil, on the 8th of August, we will be visiting the University of São Paolo. USP is one of the largest institutions of higher education with about 90000 enrolled students. We will however, only visit USP in São Paulo where only four of the eleven campuses are situated.
That's it for now, more is to follow soon!

Registrations have closed
The raffle has taken place today and the 23 participants of the Prosperando Study Tour are made known. Unfortunately, we had to disappoint 2 students who had registered, because we only could provide 23 spots for students.
The committee looks forward to travel with the participants to Brazil in the summer of 2014. We hope the participants are looking forward to the tour as well!
